HELLO

Hello! We’re Fingertips, a pop rock band from Portugal, and we will be in China for the next two weeks. Here you can find out a little more about us, check out our schedule and share our daily adventures… Not even the Great Wall frighten us! Register your e-mail with us and we will tell you a secret.

DAY 1

We landed in Shanghai, what a relief! We barely knew that between the airport and the hotel we had a one-hour journey ahead. The traffic was endless, but we were able to look around and enjoy the view. Shanghai is really hot and full of light. It’s amazing!

The room where we are staying is on the 12th floor and the view is amazing. We can see the stage where we will perform!

Despite the amazing view, a bath and a meal were something that we were looking for really badly! The dinner was amazing but super spicy and between the “cutlery” stunts, Joana was the winner, because she was able to eat a peanut with the chopsticks!

With full belly and a few minutes to spend, we called to Portugal, but in a hurry because it was late and our next day is really important!

See you soon.

DAY 2

We are on the second day in Shanghai and it seems that we are already getting used to the amount of people, to the time zone and even the food…

After yesterday’s soundcheck we were completely astonished with the majesty of the stage. The production told us that the glacier effect is based on the idea of a cold thing, contrasting with the intense and warm moments that the festival can give to its audience. Which is a great idea!

Today we will spend the time reorganizing the last details for the concert. We want to surprise the audience and bring to the stage objects related to their culture.

See you soon!

DAY 3

The third and one of the most expected days has come to an end. Now, the morning sickness from nervous are over but we still have a long journey here, in Shanghai. (and that’s the magic of this trip!).

The West Bund Music Festival concert was amazing. The audience received us on such a warmly and unique atmosphere that, even 10.000 miles away from Portugal, we felt like home. The interaction with them was pretty dynamic and everytime we asked the audience to follow us, they did it. One of the most curious things that we were told about, was that the chinese audience, usually, sit during festivals, but as soon as we enter to the stage and started “teasing” them, they standed up and followed our energy.

One of the moments that we remember with special tenderness was when Joana walked by the stage extension and got through the public, singing and opening a paper umbrella, an iconic symbol here. We thought about it and had prepared that moment to surprise them, but we got surprised back with their reaction. It was unique!

The stage was pretty big and we felt imponent by its magnitude.

Tomorrow it’s time to get our sleep schedule back on track and do some shopping. Tuesday we will be back to this great musical adventure, and record some work, here, in a different studio.

See you soon!

DAY 4

The beginning of the week started with a “home” change. Now, we ́re not in hotel anymore, but in an apart-hotel with a very familiar ambient.

We still had time to rest a little bit, but not too much, because we had to go to the supermarket so we can have some groceries for when the stomach starts to crawl.

This week started with showcases and our first presentation was for the brands.

DAY 5

Today was workout day for ones and work day for another’s. While the men of “the house” had to go to the storage get the materials for the showcases, Jo and CC went to the gym practice a little bit. A little, we mean… We’re suspicious that CC is training for the Olympic Games, she was more than an hour exercising!!

Well, after that we spent some hours in the studio and still had time for a presentation to the music industry representants.

DAY 6

Today was amazing! We got back to the place where we’ve been two years ago, for the first time in Shanghai: YuYinTang Bar. It was like travelling through time.

Before that, we had another presentation to the music industry. It was really nice to meet them and show them our songs!

Between the studio and the concert arrangements, we still had time to eat something…. but of course that we forgot about Shanghai’s traffic and its tricks… we though we can’t make it in time because of a gridlock!

DAY 7

This city doesn’t stop but, today, Shanghai gave us a quiet day. It was a special day because it was our first presentation to the media.

It was another intimist evening and being on stage just for the media it’s quite a challenge! Once again.

See you soon!

DAY 8

Today was another presentation day, and this time with promoters. After that we had time to make an outdoor photoshoot. It was really nice but it started to rain and we had to stop a few times. But it was pretty funny and we had a great time.

Back home, we still had time to go to the gym and relax a little bit. At the end of the day we had a deep desire: to go to Starbucks! It was an adventure to get there and when we finally arrived… it was closed! Of course, 1 a.m. whishes never have a happy ending!

See you soon!

DAY 9

This Saturday was our last showcase, but we still had time to go for a walk in the streets of Shanghai – we visited the highest buildings in the world, we went shopping.

In the end of the day we organized a dinner and since it was Jo’s birthday, we sang the happy birthday song to her and bought two cakes. The first one was smashed against the box when we seeked it to the pastry shop!!!

After that we explored better the night in Shanghai… We met some new Portuguese friends from here, at a jam session, until the sun started to rise again!!

See you soon!

DAY 10

Our last day in Shanghai was dedicated to lounging, after a big night!

But first we had to leave the bags ready…

Shanghai it’s very beautiful, we spent amazing days here, but we’re already missing Portugal, our families and friends!

Now it’s time to wait anxiously for the time to board!!!
